ABSTRACT "ELECTROMAGNETIC DEVICES" An electromagnetic vibrator is described in which an annular coil mounted on a reciprocating element of the vibrator is positioned in a stationary radial magnetic field, the magnetic field being produced by an array of permanently magnetised tablets arranged in two annular rows coaxial with the coil, one row of tablets being positioned within the coil and the other being positioned outside the coil. The tablets are preferably parallelepipedal in shape, and have a north pole on one face and a south pole on the opposite face. Preferred materials for the tablets are samarium cobalt or neodymium-iron-boron.
