An oil level regulator (46) is provided for controlling the oil level in the crankcase (19) of one or more refrigeration compressors (12) or the like. The regulator (46) has a closed chamber (58) for controlling the oil. A float controlled switch (82) is operable to actuate a solenoid valve (68) for introducing liquid into the chamber (58) as necessary to maintain the oil level in the chamber of the compressor (12).
