A method for detecting metal using an electronic article surveillance ("EAS") system. The EAS system includes a transmitter and a receiver. An EAS interrogation signal is transmitted to establish the interrogation zone. The EAS interrogation signal is used to detect EAS markers and metal objects within the interrogation zone. The EAS signal is received and a metal object present in the interrogation zone is detected during a metal detection cycle. The metal object is detected based upon perturbations in the received EAS interrogation signal. The metal detection cycle is periodically interspersed with at least one EAS detection cycle.
Linvention concerne un procédé de détection des métaux utilisant un système de surveillance darticle électronique (« EAS »). Le système EAS comprend un émetteur et un récepteur. Un signal dinterrogation EAS est transmis pour établir la zone dinterrogation. Le signal dinterrogation EAS est utilisé pour détecter les marqueurs EAS et les objets métalliques dans la zone dinterrogation. Le signal EAS est reçu et un objet métallique présent dans la zone dinterrogation est détecté pendant un cycle de détection de métaux. Lobjet métallique est détecté sur la base de perturbations dans le signal dinterrogation EAS reçu. Le cycle de détection de métaux est alterné de manière périodique avec au moins un cycle de détection EAS.
