An electronic circuit for providing a basic function in the area of electronic signal processing, particularly in telecommunications, such as a hands-free-talking, noise-suppression, echo-cancellation, or signal-filtering function, and including at least one memory unit for temporarily storing samples is characterized in that in order to simultaneously serve up to N incoming and outgoing communications channels, the memory unit comprises a corresponding number N of parallel-connected cells (25 1, 25 2, ..., 25N), and that the memory unit is preceded at the input end by a multiplexer (21) and followed at the output end by a demultiplexer (22). In this manner, a single-channel circuit is modified with little additional circuitry so that it can provide up to N communications channels with the basic function simultaneously.
