ABSTRACT Electronic clinical thermometer capable of detecting the temperature of a region to be measured and predicting equilibrium temperature based on a change of temperature. Reliability of display temperature is judged based on a change with of predicted temperature and/or detected temperature. The following are provided: judgment means for judging the abnormality of the initial temperature based on the change of temperature, information means for informing of insufficiency of the reliability of the displayed temperature when the initial temperature is judged as abnormal, and calculation means for calculating the prescribed mathematical equation in accordance with the cause of the judgment. Accordingly, the present invention can provide an electronic clinical thermometer capable of obtaining the accuracy in equilibrium temperature prediction regardless of external factors and giving information on body temperature even when the prescribed mathematical equation is inadequate or stability of predicted temperature or detected temperature can not be obtained.
