ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An electronic component of the type to be plugged into the circuit in which it is to be used is disclosed. The component includes provision for a plug and socket connection having indexing means and a fixed number of pin positions. At least some of the pin positions are constrained by convention to provide particular predetermined functions, and at least one pin position is provided with a pin having a conductive sleeve insulated therefrom and extending only part way along its length, so as to permit an additional electrical connection to be made at that pin position.
