ELECTRONIC COMPOSITE PHOTOGRAPHY WITH COLOR CONTROL Abstract of the Disclosure Improved electronic compositing procedures and apparatus are described, based typically on the blue screen process and suitable for processing motion pictures of professional quality and the like. The electronic system produces a com- posite color picture from foreground and background video signals. The foreground signals represent respective color components of a foreground scene having areas of different effective transparency against a backing effectively illuminated with light which is predominantly confined to one of the colors, e.g. blue, and which contains an impurity of at least one other color. The improvement comprises sub- stantially compensating for this color impurity throughout a continuous range of the effective transparencies of the foreground scene. The result is improvement in performance of the system in relation to color accuracy.
