ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Sequential distance data is sent over a communications link to a computer controlled speedometer system. Firmware and hardware of the speedometer system are used to condition two successive periods of distance data in a chosen manner which increases the resolution of speed measurements and virtually eliminates flicker in the VFD display of the speedometer system.
