An apparatus and method for drying condensate from the heat exchange of a vehicle's air conditioning system after operation in order to thwart odor buildup. The apparatus and method operate regardless of whether the system's blower control circuit (17) is positively or negatively switched. The apparatus includes relays that bypass the normal operating electrical routing to the air conditioning system's blower motor (12) to operate the blower directly. The method comprises determining that the engine of the vehicle has been switched off. If the conditions are met, the air conditioning system's blower is operated on a predetermined time schedule to circulate air in the air conditioning system to dry condensate therefrom. In this way, growth of odor-causing fungus and bacteria is prohibited.
L'invention concerne un dispositif et un procédé permettant de sécher le condensat d'un échangeur thermique de système de climatisation de véhicule après une phase de fonctionnement, afin d'éliminer les odeurs, indépendamment de la commutation positive ou négative du circuit de contrôle de la soufflante du système. Le dispositif comprend des relais qui contournent le trajet électrique normal vers le moteur de la soufflante du système, afin de lancer directement la soufflante. Le procédé consiste à déterminer que le moteur du véhicule a été arrêté et que le système fonctionnait avant l'arrêt du moteur. Si les conditions sont réunies, la soufflante du système est lancée selon un délai préétabli, faisant circuler de l'air dans le système pour sécher le condensat, ce qui permet d'éviter le développement de champignons et de bactéries engendrant des odeurs.
