ELECTRONIC INFORMATION DISSEMINATION SYSTEM Abstract of the Disclosure An electronic information dissemination system (10) electronically distributes information such as bulk mailed letters, bills, and other information from one or more sources (16a, 17a, 17b) to each of a plurality of remote stations (24a-d) located in homes or business, The system includes individually addressable receiver/decoders (30a-d) at each remote station. Each receiver/decoder has information processing (44) and memory (48) for identifying its distinct address plus a "global" address common to the plurality of remote stations in the system. Information is gathered from various sources (16a, 17a, 17b) at a centrally located data handling station (12) which encodes the data for transmission to the remote stations (24a-d). The transmission path is provided by an existing communications network (20) such as CATV or a switched telephone system.
