TITLE Electronic Mosaic Imaging Process ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to an imaging system with computer-controlled, multiple electronic image acquisition and assembly means for producing a high resolution, large-field electronic mosaic image from a series of smaller field image segments. A method of producing the mosaic image is disclosed, in which a field of interest within an object plane is selected, the position of each image segment within the object plane and the sequence in which the images will be acquired is determined, each image segment is transferred in digitalized form to mosaic image storage means and the mosaic image thus obtained is recalled from the storage means. The method may be used to obtain mosaic images in microscopy, from photographic and thermographic images and the like.
