Electronic Speed Sensor Abstract of the Disclosure A speed sensing apparatus counts a predetermined number of gear teeth on a gear driven by a motor. The duration of time required to count the predetermined number of gear teeth is compared to a timing signal of preselected duration. The comparison is used to make a determination as to whether the velocity of the gear is above or below a preselected velocity.
