AN ELECTRONIC TECHNIQUE OF IDENTIFYING AN EFFECTIVE DRUG FOR TREATING A CANCER PATIENT ABSTRACT Cancerous cells of a patient under treatment are added to a quantity of cell life supporting media along with a quantity of an anti-cancer drug that is a candidate for treating the patient. The electrical conductivity of the cell is monitored over time in order to determine the effect of the candidate drug to inhibit increases in volume or number of the cancerous cells. Data on the effect of the same drug on normal cells of the patient may simultaneously be gathered so that a drug is chosen which will result in reduced side effects on the patient. A computer system is provided for simultaneously monitoring a large number of media containers, thereby allowing the effects of more than one drug and/or more than one concentration of a given drug to be determined at the same time, within a period of a few hours or a couple of days.
