- 22 - Abstract A physical lens pattern is substituted in a lens edging machine by an electronically controlled spacer. The space, in synchronization with the rotation of the pattern shaft, simulates the presence of a pattern and allows such pre-existing edger machines to cut lenses without requiring that an inventory of lens patterns be kept.
