A pen including a marking device such as an ink jet head, the pen being operative to mark a visible path onto a surface, the marking device being electronically controllable to change an attribute of the path such as colour or line thickness/style. The pen includes a user interface such as buttons or a slider and a display whereby a user may select and modify the attribute. A sensor is capable of sensing images (e.g. a line with a given thickness, texture or opacity) or colour for inputting an attribute to be selected and which can be stored in a memory of the pen. An attribute may be sampled from a card (1510) which includes a rainbow of predefined colours (1512), an area (1514) for selecting brightness and an area (1516) for line thickness and/or style. The sensor may directly read the image or colour on the card or read invisible coded tags.

L'invention concerne un stylo comprenant un dispositif de marquage du type tête à jet d'encre. Ledit stylo sert à marquer un trait visible sur une surface, le dispositif de marquage pouvant être commandé électroniquement de manière à changer un attribut du trait, notamment sa couleur ou son épaisseur/style. Ledit stylo comprend une interface utilisateur, par exemple des boutons ou un curseur, et un afficheur, qui permet à l'utilisateur de sélectionner et de modifier l'attribut. Un détecteur peut détecter des images (un trait d'une épaisseur, d'une texture ou d'une opacité donnée par exemple) ou une couleur en vue de l'entrée d'un attribut à sélectionner et de sa mémorisation dans la mémoire du stylo. L'attribut peut être échantillonné à partir d'une carte (1510) comprenant un arc-en-ciel de couleurs prédéfinies (1512), une zone (1514) de sélection de la luminosité et une zone (1516) de sélection de l'épaisseur/style du trait. Ledit détecteur peut soit lire directement l'image ou la couleur sur la carte soit lire des étiquettes codées invisibles.
