An electronically controlled roll tower dispenser (10) with a data communication system. The dispenser automatically dispenses a predetermined length of paper toweling from the supply roll (70) after a length of toweling has been detached by a user pulling and tearing the protruding tow-eling against a stationary cutting blade. The dispenser is battery powered by an electric motor, an electromechanical dispensing mechanism, and an embedded microcontroller for controlling and monitoring operation of the dispenser. In addition to primary control functions, the microcontroller monitors parameters such as battery condition, towel usage, system status, system errors, and unsafe operating conditions. Pushbutton switches (132, 134, 136, 138) are also provided for programming towel length and the dispense delay. The dispenser further includes an optical transmitter for transmitting visual and infrared data to a receiving de-vice. Useful information about the status of the dispenser can be visibly discerned by an operator through the use of primitive low-speed flash patterns, while high-speed infrared digital data can be simultaneously embedded in or multiplexed with the visible data.
L'invention porte sur un distributeur (10) d'essuie-mains à rouleau, électronique, doté d'un système de transmission de données. Ce distributeur distribue automatiquement une longueur prédéterminée d'essuie-mains en papier à partir du rouleau (70) d'alimentation lorsqu'une longueur d'essuie-mains a été détachée par un utilisateur qui tire et déchire l'essuie-mains sortant contre une lame de découpe fixe. Le distributeur est alimenté par batterie par un moteur électrique, un mécanisme de distribution électromécanique et un microcontrôleur intégré permettant de commander et surveiller son fonctionnement. En plus des fonctions de commande primaires, le microcontrôleur surveille des paramètres tels que état de la batterie, utilisation de l'essuie-mains, état du système, erreurs du système et mauvais états de fonctionnement. Des commutateurs à bouton poussoir (132, 134, 136, 138) permettent de programmer la longueur de l'essuie-mains et le délai de distribution. Le distributeur comprend également un émetteur optique destiné à envoyer des données visuelles et infrarouges à un récepteur. Des informations utiles sur l'état du distributeur peuvent être observées par un opérateur grâce à des éclairs primitifs lents, tandis que des données numériques infrarouges peuvent être simultanément intégrées aux données visibles ou multiplexées avec celles-ci.
