Abstract of the Disclosure Apparatus for measuring the moisture content of a moving web in which radiation from a source located at a point remote from the web is conveyed by a plurality of light pipes to a plurality of transmitting ports arranged across the surface of the web in a direction generally perpendicular to the direction of travel of the web. A plurality of receiving ports arranged in alignment with the transmitting ports collect radiation either reflected from or transmitted through the web. A second set of light pipes convey the collected radiation to a photodetector array located at a point remote from the web. The photodetector is monitored by a microprocessor control system which provides an indication of the moisture content of the web.
