An electrophotographic photoconductor comprises: an electroconductive substrate consisting of an aluminum alloy having an iron content of 0.1 percent by weight or less; an intermediate layer formed on said electroconductive substrate; a charge generation layer formed on the intermediate layer; and a charge transport layer formed on the charge generation layer. The intermediate layer comprises an alcohol-soluble resin and has a thickness of 0.5 µm or more.
