ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Metal coated fibers, the majority of which comprise a core of graphite and a thin, uniform firmly adherent electrically conductive layer of an electrodepositable metal, such as nickel or the like, are provided by electrodeposition from a solution onto the core. Uniformity and production speed are substantially improved if the surface of the core fibers is provided substantially free of adsorbed organic compounds. In the electrodeposition process the voltage is in excess of what is normally required for metal deposition.
