This invention relates to laminated composite structure elements containing electrodes, flexible laminae which may also serve as electrodes, and an electrorheological fluid located between the flexible laminae. The rheological properties of the electrorheological fluid and its cohesive force with solid surfaces may be changed by applying an electric field, and the mechanical properties of the whole laminated composite structure may thereby be varied.

L'invention concerne des éléments de structure composite stratifiée comprenant des électrodes, des feuilles souples pouvant également faire office d'électrodes entre lesquelles est prévu un fluide électrorhéologique. Il est possible de modifier les propriétés rhéologiques dudit fluide électrorhéologique, la force d'adhérence de ce dernier sur les surfaces solides et par conséquent les propriétés mécaniques de la structure composite stratifiée dans son intégralité par l'application d'un champ électrique.
