A housing member (9) is constructed from a body (10) and an intermediate tube (11) covering the outer periphery of the body (10). A sprayer (1) having an air motor (2) and a rotary atomizer head (3) is installed on the front side of the body (10), and a high-voltage generator (7) for applying a high voltage to a coating material via the air motor (2) etc. is installed on the rear side the body (10). On the other hand, a large number of recesses (12) are uniformly arranged, by the utilization of through-holes (11B), across the entire outer surface (11A) of the intermediate tube (11). Then, a cover member (13) is installed on and in contact with the outer surface (11A) of the intermediate tube (11). Electric field intensity around the openings of the recesses (12) is increased to prevent adhesion of an electrically charged coating material.
