ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The present invention relates to a discharge electrode for use in an electrostatic precipitator. The electrode comprises a planar platelike member having two substantially straight edges along opposite sides thereof and plural elongated brackets each having an outwardly facing surface disposed longitudinally thereof. Plural needle-like elements are fastened at one axial end on the longitudinal surface of the brackets in spaced-apart longitudinal alignment therealong, the other free end of the needles projecting perpendicularly to the surface. The brackets are connected to the edges of the platelike member in such a manner that the free ends of the needles are disposed to lie along each of the edges in a substantially straight line in the plane of the member.
