ABSTRACT An electrotherapeutic apparatus for external application comprising circuitry for generating direct-current square wave voltage pulses having an amplitude between 4 and 22 volts and a frequency of approximately 8.5 Hz. Means are included for applying the pulses to a living body and comprise an electrode in the form of a roller. The surface of the roller is covered by a series of rows of pyramid shaped parts having flattened tops of edge length 0.5 mm. The pyramids in adjacent rows are mutually offset so that the spacing between neighbouring tips in adjacent rows is 6.955 mm. The voltage pulses are applied to the tips of the pyramid shaped parts.
