Abstract An elevating device suitable for elevating people and animals from a ground surface has a first frame to be sup- ported on the ground surface, a second frame to support the person or animal to be elevated, a scissor-action linkage between the frames and a device for actuating the linkage to adjust the height of the second frame relative to the first frame. The arrangement is relatively simple and inexpensive.
