An emergency brake for an elevator car. The problem with car brakes is the uneven braking force applied and un-even wear of the linings. The elevator employs springs which maintain a constant braking force on the shoes. The springs (15, 16) are compressed by a fluid operable piston and cylinder assembly (35). The springs (15, 16) move a cam follower (17) along cam surfaces (20, 21) shaped to cause the cam follower (17) to move one brake shoe (22) toward the other shoe (24). Switches (63, 57) operable by the cam follower (17) control the car (4) so that movement of the car (4) is prevented when the springs (15, 16) are not compressed and when there is excessive shoe wear.
Frein de secours pour une cabine d'ascenseur. Le problème associé aux freins d'ascenseur se rapporte à l'application d'une force de freinage irrégulière et à l'usure irrégulière des garnitures. L'ascenseur utilise des ressorts qui maintiennent une force de freinage constante sur les mâchoires. Les ressorts (15, 16) sont comprimés par un ensemble piston et cylindre (35) hydrauliques. Les ressorts (15, 16) déplacent une contre-came (17) le long de surfaces (20, 21) de came profilées de façon que la contre-came (17) déplace une mâchoire (22) de frein vers l'autre (24). Des interrupteurs (63, 57) actionnés par la contre-came (17) commandent la cabine (4) de façon à empêcher le mouvement de cette dernière (4) lorsque les ressorts (15, 16) ne sont pas comprimés et lorsqu'une usure excessive des mâchoires est produite.
