Elevator Control Abstract An operational controller is located in the elevator car, and a mobile transceiver, also located in the car, is connected to the operational controller, which includes a microprocessor that controls the transceiver. A stationary transceiver is located in the lobby, and the two transceivers are connected over two pairs of wires in the traveling cable. These transceivers communicate by dual tone combinations, each combination identifying a hall button, a hall lantern, and a position indicator in the lobby. When the hall button is depressed, to place a call, the stationary transceiver provides a dual tone signal over one pair of wires to the mobile transceiver. When the call is registered, the mobile transceiver echoes that signal back over the other pair of wires. The stationary transceiver activates the light asso- ciated with the button and blocks out the connection between the button and the transceiver to prevent further production of the signal. The mobile transceiver provides a dual tone signal to the stationary trans- ceiver which decodes it to activate the proper numeral in the position indicator. When a service request is answered, the echo signal is again supplied to the stationary transceiver, but along with a D.C. level shift in the wire pair carrying it. The stationary transceiver in response to both deactivates the light associated with the button identified by the echo signal. The mobile transceiver also provides a dual tone signal which identifies the lantern on the floor, and the stationary transceiver decodes that signal to activate that lantern.
