Control apparatus (10) for a lift installation. The control apparatus (10) has actuating elements (16) at a front surface (12), Moreover, the control apparatus (10) has an insert (20) in the form of a key-operated switch cylinder which has a recess (22) or a key slot. The recess (22) opens at at least one side surface (14) of the control apparatus (10), which lies transversely to the front surface (12). A separate auxiliary actuating element is introducible into the recess (22) in the direction of an axis (24). The insert (20) contains a switch arrangement, which is mechanically actuable by rotation of the auxiliary actuating element about the said axis (24), in order to trigger specific functions in conjunction with control of the lift installation.
