ELEVATOR SYSTEM ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An elevator system including an elevator car mounted for vertical movement in the hoistway of a building, and a plurality of traveling cables which interconnect the elevator car and a function box in the hoistway. The plura- lity of traveling cables are bundled to track as a single cable by a plurality of spaced retainer devices. Each retainer device includes a first portion which is tightly secured to one of the traveling cables, and a second portion which loosely encircles all of the traveling cables.
