-33- ABSTRACT The invention is directed to an ELISA assay for diagnosing tuberculosis in mammals, particularly ruminants. The assay employs three antigenic references, these being a non-specific antigenic preparation from a tuberculosis-producing mycobacterium, an antigenic preparation from a non- tuberculous saprophytic mycobacterium and at least one antigen from and specific for a tuberculosis-producing mycobacterium. Diagnostic kits for use in the method of the invention are also provided.
