Abstract of the Disclosure Uncropped, unworked, elongated, leaded steel castings, such as ingots, of commercial size (1000 lbs. and heavier) or strand cast section. Lead content greater than .35 wt. % and up to .70 wt. %. Commercially acceptable surface. Lead present in inclusion form of microscopic size. No lead macroinclusions at bottom of uncropped ingot. No rare earths or lead oxide inclusions. Process for making is described.
