The present invention provides a method for making an emblem (10) for motor vehicles, said method comprising in the order given, the steps of: providing a sheet of metal (5) having opposite first (15) and second (16) major surface; applying a desired graphics design (2) on a first major surface of said sheet; cutting and forming from said metal sheet (5) an emblem (10) having a three dimensional shape; and applying a protective coating (1) on said emblem over said graphics design (2) by spray coating or powder coating whereby said protective coating (1) extends over the edge between said first and second major surface. Further provided are an emblem obtained with the method, a method of affixing the emblem to a motor vehicle and a motor vehicle having affixed to it the emblem.

L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un écusson (10) pour véhicules à moteur, ce procédé comprenant, dans l'ordre, les étapes consistant à obtenir une feuille de métal (5) possédant des première (15) et seconde (16) surfaces principales opposées, à appliquer un motif graphique (2) sur une première surface principale de cette feuille, à découper et former à partir de cette feuille métallique (5) un écusson (10) possédant une forme tridimensionnelle, et à appliquer un revêtement de protection (1) sur cet écusson sur le motif graphique (2) par revêtement par giclage ou par pulvérisation. Ce revêtement de protection (1) s'étend sur le bord situé entre la première surface principale et la seconde surface principale. L'invention concerne également un écusson obtenu à l'aide de ce procédé, un procédé permettant de fixer l'écusson sur un véhicule à moteur, et un véhicule à moteur possédant cet écusson.
