An embolus extractor (10) including elongate shaft (16) having a proximal end and a distal end. The embolus extractor may include primary struts (12) coupled to the distal end of the shaft (16). The struts may define a proximally disposed mouth. Additional secondary struts (14) may be coupled along the elongate shaft (16) to enhance the thrombus containing ability of the embolus extractor (10).
