A device for arresting of leakage through the bore of circular pipes and, in particular, to a device and method for emergency leakage arresting in circular pipes and the like. The device is adapted to provide for a quick remedy to arrest leakage in pipelines including reactor coolant channels and the like and would be simple and requiring minimum of manual intervention. Basically the device includes an adaptor sleeve with provision to releasably secure with respect to a corresponding catch means in the pipeline end portion to be leak arrested/blocked and also to operatively connect a block valve attachment means having means for regulated and final complete valve closure to block the water leakage path from the bore/seal plug of the pipeline. The leakage arresting device is provided in a form ready for installation to block leakages even in locations / units requiring high standard of safety such as coolant channel and like pipelines provided in power generators and the like.
