-9- Summary This emergency release device is provided for a lift for persons and essentially consists of manually operable drive elements by means of which the lift cage can be moved by way of the lift drive and operating elements by means of which an operative connection with the lift drive can be produced and the brake (21, 25) at the lift drive released. A crank device (16, 17), a flexible shaft (15) and a switchable crown wheel gear transmission (1, 2, 3) are present as drive elements. The switching or coupling in of the crown wheel gear transmission (1, 2, 3) takes place by means of a handle (14) with toggle joint mechanism, a cable pull (12, 13) and an engaging fork (11). A handle (18) for a remotely actuable brake release by way of a cable pull (19, 29) is present at the crank device (16, 17). (Fig. 1)
