Abstract of the Disclosure A zirconium dioxide sensor is disposed in the exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine to sense the oxygen compositions of the emissions to provide a composition representative signal at one of two discrete values depending upon whether the sensed compositions are above or below stoichio- ometric air fuel ratio. Means are provided to convert the composition representative signal into a train of pulses having variable pulse duration related to the sensed compositions. An electronic carburetor is provided which includes a throttle valve in the air intake passageway of the engine, at least one emulsion chamber communicated to a fuel supply con- tainer, at least one electromagnetic on-off valve to supply air to the emulsion chamber to mix it with the fuel in accordance with the duration of the electrical pulses. The emulsion chamber is in communication to the venturi portion of the air intake passageway to discharge the emulsion thereto to operate the engine at the stoichiometric air fuel ratio. A catalytic converter is connected to the exhaust pipe of the engine to clean up the emissions. The content of the exhaust emissions is thus controlled at the stoichio- metric value to permit the catalytic convertor to operate at the highest efficiency.
