ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Emulsions of alkenyl succinic anhydride sizing agents are prepared using a cationic water-soluble polymer and a cationic starch as an emulsifier. The alkenyl succinic anhydrides have the formula Image in which R represents a dimethylene or trimethylene radical, and R1 is a hydrophobic group containing more than 5 carbon atoms and chosen from alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl or aralkenyl groups.
