Emulsifier and solvent-free multimodal synthetic-resin systems which are suitable as a constituent of binders for deinkable printing inks and which contain at least one amino-containing polymer A and at least one nonionic, water-dilutable polymer B and, optionally, a water-insoluble polymer C in the form of latex particles which can be prepared by emulsion polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated compounds in the presence of the polymers A and B. Methods of making the synthetic-resin systems and pigment pastes and binders for printing inks and varnishes also are disclosed.
