An emulsion explosive composition comprising a base emulsion phase which comprises a continuous fuel phase and a discontinuous oxidiser phase, wherein the viscosity of the base emulsion phase is less than 2000 cP (Brookfield viscosity #4 spindle at 50 rpm) at 25~C.
