An aqueous emulsion of a resin which includes as an emulsifier at least one compound of the formula (I): R1-CO-NR2R3 wherein R1 is a polyunsaturated hydrocarbyl group; R2 is a polyhydroxy hydrocarbyl radical; and R3 is hydrogen, a hydrocarbyl, particularly alkyl, group, a hydroxy or hydrocarbyloxy substituted hydrocarbyl, particularly hydroxy or alkoxy substituted alkyl, or is a group as defined for R2. The resin is preferably an alkyd resin, and the emulsions are particularly useful for incorporating into paints.

L'invention concerne une émulsion aqueuse d'une résine comprenant comme émulsifiant au moins un composé de la formule (I): R?1¿-CO-NR?2¿R?3¿ dans laquelle R?1¿ représente un groupe hydrocarbyle polyinsaturé; R?2¿ représente un radical hydrocarbyle polyhydroxylé; et R?3¿ est hydrogène, un groupe hydrocarbyle, en particulier alkyle, un hydrocarbyle substitué par hydroxy ou hydrocarbyloxy, en particulier un alkyle substitué par hydroxy ou par alcoxy, ou représente un groupe tel qu'il est décrit pour R?2¿. La résine est, de préférence, une résine alkyde. Les émulsions sont particulièrement destinées à être incorporées aux peintures.
