An upright induction chamber (100) is positioned within a melting tank (24) of a snow melting apparatus (20). The melting tank is filled with melting water. Shredded snow from a hopper assembly (22) is introduced into the upper end of the induction chamber along with heated melting water, to be mixed by an impeller fan pump (110) that is operated to force the melting water at sufficient speed through the induction chamber to overcome the buoyancy of the snow, thereby facilitating uniform distribution of the snow across the induction chamber and good mixing of the snow with the melting water. A portion of the liquid composed of the melted snow and melting water from the induction chamber is expelled from the melting tank, and a portion of the liquid from the induction chamber passes through a heat exchanger (34) positioned within the heating tank to be heated thereby and then re-introduced into the upper portion of the induction chamber.
L'invention concerne un système comprenant une chambre (100) dadmission verticale positionnée à lintérieur dune cuve (24) de fusion dun appareil (20) à fondre la neige. La cuve de fusion est remplie deau de fusion. De la neige broyée provenant dun ensemble trémie (22) est introduite dans lextrémité supérieure de la chambre dadmission ainsi que de leau de fusion chauffée, pour être mélangées par une pompe (110) à ailettes actionnée afin de pousser leau de fusion à travers la chambre dadmission à une vitesse suffisante pour vaincre la flottabilité de la neige, facilitant ainsi une répartition uniforme de la neige à travers la chambre dadmission et un bon mélange de la neige avec leau de fusion. Une partie du liquide composé de neige fondue et deau de fusion provenant de la chambre dadmission est expulsée de la cuve de fusion, et une partie du liquide provenant de la chambre dadmission traverse un échangeur (34) de chaleur positionné à lintérieur de la cuve de chauffage afin dêtre chauffée par celle-ci puis réintroduite dans la partie supérieure de la chambre dadmission.
