An end face seal especially adapted for use in severe service environments such as for sealing track pins or track rollers of crawler type tractors. The seal includes a primary annular seal ring (12), having a radially extending flange portion (54), as well as a secondary annular sealing ring (14) positioned in use about the axial flange portion. The secondary seal ring includes an abradable auxilliary excluder type lip (90) that contacts a portion of the machine part with the mating surface so as to initially exclude grit from the seal band area of contact between the seal ring and the machine part.

Le joint comprend une première bague d'étanchéité annulaire (12) comprenant une partie de bord (54) s'étendant radialement et une deuxième bague d'étanchéité annulaire (14) qui est positonnée en utilisation autour de la partie de bord axial. La deuxième bague annulaire comporte une lèvre (90) auxiliaire d'éjection s'usant par abrasion qui se trouve en contact avec une partie de la partie machine par sa surface appariée de manière à éliminer initialement le sable et les graviers de la zone de contact de la bande du joint entre la bague d'étanchéité et la partie machine.
