END FITTING FOR A HYDRAULIC HOSE AND A HYDRAULIC HOSE PROVIDED WITH THE END FITTINGS Abstract of the Disclosure An end fitting adapted to be swaged or otherwise compressed to attach it to the end of a hose has one end adapted to couple a hose to another fitting and a stem to be inserted in the bore of the hose. A sleeve is spaced radially outwardly from the stem. An insert member adapted to fit about the hose has a plurality of conical or similarly shaped barbs which are adapted to be embedded in the wall of the hose and is disposed between the sleeve and hose. The fitting is secured to the end of the hose by placing the insert member about the hose end, inserting the assembly in the fitting between the stem and sleeve and deforming the sleeve to press the barbs into the fibrous reinforcing layer of the hose and to lock the insert against longitudinal movement relative to the sleeve.
