An endodontic instrument for use in performing root canal therapy on a tooth having at least one straight flute which prevents self-threading or screwing of the instrument into a root canal during use. The instrument includes a shaft having a longitudinal central axis, a shank portion and an elongated working portion extending from the shank portion along the central axis, the elongated working portion having a proximal end, a distal end, and at least one peripheral surface and at least one straight flute formed on at least a portion of the peripheral surface of the working portion, the straight flute forming at least one cutting edge on the peripheral surface. The straight flute may be formed of a plurality of flute sections disposed on the peripheral surface of the instrument, the plurality of flute sections angularly displaced about the central axis with respect to one another. A method of manufacturing an endodontic instrument is also disclosed.
La présente invention a trait à un instrument pour l'endodontie destiné à être utilisé dans la thérapie du canal radicalaire sur une dent présentant au moins une cannelure droite qui empêche le filetage ou taraudage spontané de l'instrument dans le canal radicalaire lors de son utilisation. L'instrument comporte une tige présentant un axe longitudinal central, une portion de queue et une portion de travail de forme allongée s'étendant de la portion de queue selon l'axe central, la portion de travail allongée ayant une extrémité proximale, une extrémité distale, et au moins une surface périphérique et au moins une cannelure droite formée sur au moins une portion de la surface périphérique de la portion de travail, la cannelure droite formant au moins un tranchant sur la surface périphérique. La cannelure droite peut être formée d'une pluralité de segments de cannelure décalés de manière angulaire autour de l'axe central les uns par rapport aux autres. L'invention a également trait à un procédé de fabrication d'une instrument pour l'endodontie.
