ENDOGENOUS MORPHINE-LIKE COMPOUND Abstract A morphine-like compound-(MLC) can be extracted from the brain of various species by utilizing morphine specific antibodies. MLC shows great similarities to morphine in immun- ological, chemical and chromatographic tests. The compound has biological activity as it inhibits the electrically induced contractions both of the guinea pig ileum and mouse vas deferens but the inhibition is not reversed by naloxone or naltrexone.
