The invention relates to an observation device containing an endoscope, wherein the endoscope (3) is mounted rotatably and displaceably in a guide part (4). The advantages of the observation device essentially lie in the fact that chemical or physical reactions in closed containers can be visually monitored on-line in the whole container. The observation device can be used to particular advantage in chromatographic columns, since it permits better checking of the build-up of a packing.
