In a first variation, the inflatable retraction device retracts the organ by exerting a force against adjacent organs. In a second variation, the inflatable retraction device retracts the organ by providing a retraction force from outside the body. An inflatable retraction device that provides the retraction force from outside the body can be made using a Foley catheter.
