An electrosurgical instrument for treating tissue includes a housing having a shaft extending therefrom having an axis A-A defined therethrough. The shaft is at least partially flexible and includes first and second jaw members attached at a distal end thereof. Each jaw member includes an electrically conductive tissue contacting surface adapted to connect to a source of electrosurgical energy such that the electrically conductive tissue contacting surfaces are capable of conducting electrosurgical energy through tissue held therebetween. A drive assembly is disposed in the housing and has a first actuator operably coupled to a drive rod for reciprocation thereof to move the jaw members from a first position in spaced relation to one another to a second position closer to one another for engaging tissue. A second actuator is disposed on the housing and is actuatable to articulate the shaft.
L'invention concerne un instrument électrochirurgical pour traiter des tissus humains, comprenant un boîtier doté d'un arbre s'étendant à partir du boîtier et ayant un axe A-A défini à travers celui-ci. L'arbre est au moins partiellement souple et comprend une première et une seconde mâchoires fixées à une extrémité distale de l'arbre. Chaque mâchoire comprend une surface électroconductrice venant en contact avec du tissu humain et conçue pour être reliée à une source d'énergie électrochirurgicale, de telle sorte que les surfaces électroconductrices venant en contact avec du tissu sont capables de conduire de l'énergie électrochirurgicale à travers le tissu maintenu entre elles. Un ensemble d'entraînement est disposé dans le boîtier et possède un premier actionneur fonctionnellement couplé à une tige d'entraînement pour son déplacement en va-et-vient afin de déplacer les mâchoires d'une première position où elles sont mutuellement espacées vers une seconde position où elles sont plus proches l'une de l'autre, afin de venir en prise avec le tissu. Un second actionneur est disposé sur le boîtier et peut être actionné pour articuler l'arbre.
