ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An energy absorbing guard rail terminal has pairs of spaced parallel rails with overlapping ends positioned on break- away posts with mounting bolts securing one of each pair of rails to said posts, spacer rods between said parallel rails and a box beam on some of said posts facing said spacer rods, multiple spaced openings in each of said rails aligned longi- tudinally for registration and splace bolts in said openings joining said overlapping ends of said rails, said splice bolts forming means for telescopic resistance between said overlapping rail ends.
