A method of producing a viscoelastic polyurethane foam coating in which a polyisocyanate is reacted with a polyol to form a prepolymer. The prepolymer is reacted with a polyol having at least one pendant carboxylic acid group to form a prepolymer with a pendant carboxylic acid group. The prepolymer with a pendant carboxylic acid group is neutralized with a tertiary amine and then reacted with water or an organic or inorganic polyamine. An energy absorbing unit in which the coating produced by the above method is provided on a viscoelastic polyurethane foam layer.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'un revêtement en mousse de polyuréthanne viscoélastique, procédé dans lequel un polyisocyanate est mis à réagir avec un polyol pour former un prépolymère. Le prépolymère est mis à réagir avec un polyol ayant au moins un groupe acide carboxylique latéral sur une chaîne. Le prépolymère à groupe acide carboxylique latéral est neutralisé par une amine tertiaire, puis mis à réagir avec de l'eau ou une polyamine organique ou inorganique. L'invention concerne en outre un bloc absorbeur d'énergie, dans lequel le revêtement est obtenu par le procédé précité sur une couche de mousse de polyuréthane viscoélastique.
