A frame member for an opening in the wall of a structure and the complete closure assemblies for these openings are described. The frame member has an overlapping component adapted to overlap a wall face and provide a surface for seating a closure, a support component, and optionally a sealing component for sealing against the closure. For example a window frame member for the opening in the wall of a building and the complete assemblies are described. Preferably the seating surface in the overlapping component is one side of a profile which is hollow, hollow-with-reinforcing, or foam filled. The frame member is adapted to allow the closure, particularly a glazing panel and sash, to approach closely, the support component and fill an increased percentage of the opening compared to prior designs. This is advantageous since recently designed panels, especially glazing panels, are often more energy efficient than the frame or sash-plus-frame used to mount them.
